Coratia Technologies Pvt. Ltd. has reached an important milestone in ocean technology through a technology transfer agreement with the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) for the Autonomous Underwater Profiling Drifter (AUPD), developed by the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai.
The AUPD is an autonomous oceanographic device designed to collect information about ocean conditions at different depths. Equipped with a conductivity, temperature and depth (CTD) sensor, it measures key ocean parameters up to 2,000 metres and transmits collected data through satellite communication in real time.
This technology can support ocean observation, climate variability studies, marine ecosystem management, ocean forecasting and scientific research. The availability of ocean data from different depths can help researchers improve their understanding of ocean heat distribution, freshwater transport and changing marine conditions.
Through this technology transfer, Coratia Technologies is positioned to help bring an indigenous ocean-monitoring innovation developed by NIOT into wider practical applications, contributing to India's growing ocean technology ecosystem and blue economy.
